They stopped making that part? We reproduce it

Is it worth reproducing?

Honestly, not always. Four questions worth asking first:

• Is the rest of the equipment sound? If the machine is failing everywhere, one part only delays the inevitable.
• Is it safety critical? Brakes, structural elements bearing people or pressurised components need specific certification. We will tell you no.
• Is there a standard alternative? Sometimes the part is a standard bearing inside an unusual housing. Buy the bearing, we make the housing.
• What does downtime cost you? On a production machine, a day stopped usually costs far more than the part.

Reproducing does not mean copying identically

If a part failed by fatigue at a specific point, copying it exactly means repeating the failure. We add material there, or move to a stronger polymer. The replacement often outlasts the original.

What we need from you

• The physical part, even broken. Fragments are almost always workable.
• Photos with something for scale beside it — a coin, a ruler, a caliper.
• What equipment it belongs to and what it does: does it rotate, clamp, cover, bear load?
• Working conditions: sun, water, heat, food contact. This determines the material.
• How many units you need now, and whether you expect more later.

Material matters more than the printer

A cheap PLA part left in the Canarian sun deforms within weeks. The same part in ASA lasts for years. We select the polymer for where the part will actually live — that choice is our job, not yours.

A note on legality

Reproducing a part to repair equipment you own is legitimate and routine. Copying and commercialising a product protected by patent or registered design is not, and neither is reproducing third-party trademarks. The vast majority of discontinued parts that reach our workshop are functional components with no active protection. If your case raised any doubt, we would tell you before starting.
